University Station is an LRT station on the Capital Line in Edmonton, Alberta. It is an underground station located beneath 112 Street at 89 Avenue on the University of Alberta campus.
University Station is the busiest LRT station in Edmonton, serving an average of 29,470 passengers per weekday.
==History==
University Station was opened August 23, 1992 and was the first LRT Station located on the south side of the North Saskatchewan River. It is connected to Grandin (Government Centre) Station by the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge,〔(Dudley Menzies Bridge - Light Rail Transit Bridge Over The North Saskatchewan River )〕 a dedicated LRT bridge (with a lower level for pedestrians and cyclists). With the exception of the bridge and its approaches, the LRT line between Grandin Station and University Station runs through underground tunnels.
University Station was the southern terminus of the LRT line prior to the opening of the Health Sciences Station on January 3, 2006.
